This track is written for every woman who has ever found herself in an abusive relationship. Abuse comes in many different forms, each form just as damaging as the other. Though I wrote this song about my own personal experience, I can still be friends and still love the person that was emotionally abusive towards me. Nobody's perfect and sometimes it takes getting super close to someone for all of this to come to light. I am super happy about the outcome and will continue to be friends with this individual who actually ended up teaching me so much about myself - most importantly, how to love and respect myself even more than I ever knew. It is super important though that if you do find yourself in this type of unhealthy situation, to get yourself out of it - there are so many resources. I specifically used Al-Anon, however there is more information and a hotline that you can call (1-800-994-9662) for Women's Health. When we're in these situations, we can get stuck, so it's super important to reach out to friends, family, and professionals.
